I. The Problem
Audit Log confusion and siloed workstreams
The Audit Log is essential for document and data health tracking in Aumni but offers limited background on the status of each Item. Users have to share Audit Log updates and manage tasks outside of the Aumni platform without visibility into others' workflows, contributing to confusion and information silos across their organization.
II. The Solution
Notes in the Audit Log
Notes let you annotate your Audit Log Items and view comments from other members of your organization. Now you can easily share context about specific Audit Log Items with your broader team, maintain visibility into team member workflows, and streamline Audit Log task management directly within the Aumni platform.
In this guide, you'll learn how to add, edit, delete, and view Notes and some of the common use cases leveraged by Aumni customers.
III. The Details
Adding Notes
From the Audit Log
From your Audit Log, hover your mouse in the leftmost column.
Click the '+' icon to generate an open text field in a popup.
Once you input a Note, press 'Enter' on your keyboard or click the blue 'check' to save your Note. Saving a Note will automatically record the author, date, and timestamp.
Keep in mind, Notes are not monitored by the Aumni team, and can only be seen by the users in your organization.
Saved Notes are enumerated in a badge in the lefthand column of an Item row; click on the badge to input additional custom Notes for that Audit Log Item.
From an Investment Summary
You can also add Notes from the Investment Summary page if there are Outstanding or Archived Audit Log Items.
Expand the relevant section and click the '+' icon to add a new Note.
Viewing Notes
To view existing Notes authored by you or your team members, select an Item with a badge. The number within the badge represents how many saved Notes there are for that Item. If the Notes column is empty, no Notes have been Saved for that Item.
Pro Tip: All Notes are public to other users in your organization so create Notes that are significant to others.
Saved Notes will also appear under the Oustanding Audit Log Items and Archived Audit Log Items section on a portfolio company's Investment Summary.
Editing and deleting Notes
If you are the original author of a Note, you can edit or delete it.
From the Notes view, hover your mouse over a comment to generate the edit and delete functions.
Select either the 'trash can' to delete or the 'pen' icon to revise a saved Note.
Use Cases
Notes can help you record and monitor additional context about an Audit Log Item. With Notes, you can:

- Assign an Action Item to a specific team member

- Maintain visibility into your team's actions
- Eliminate information silos by recording all Audit Log communication in one place
